Inishboffin Island, August. 2017

As promised, here is a post on Inishboffin - a small island off the coast of West Ireland. We took the ferry to get there, which was hair-raisingly chopping and windy on the way with HUGE waves and screeching gulls but it was 100% worth it and we were surprised on the return journey by... We walked right the way around the island, exploring bogs - where my white shoes were envelopped by the dark, sludgy mud :( - and climbing (small) mountains. It was the perfect day trip and a wonderful insight into island life - very tempting I must admit.

It was overflowing with friendly (and loud) cows!

Despite the chilly weather we were determined for a swim before the ferry home so made the most of a break in the rain and went for it - freezing but beautiful!

We then headed back to the ferry and just made it in time, I wonder what a night alone on the island would have been like..

Now for the unexpected highlight - a delightful pod of frisky dolphins playing in the wake of the ferry and swimming alongside us for a good 20 mins - a wonder of nature indeed.
